Here you see an incredible schelling that was minted in the Dutch city of Zwolle. This extraordinary piece has everything going for it and is arguably the finest Schelling we have ever handled from the Merestein shipwreck. The obverse features an intricately detailed shield, while the reverse showcases a beautifully depicted two-headed eagle with exceptional clarity. What makes this coin even more captivating is its incredible dark patina, accented by remnants of encrustation on both sides. Remarkably, it was struck with great central alignment and retains flawless edges despite spending centuries on the ocean floor. Finding a Merestein schelling in such outstanding condition is exceedingly rare—a true treasure for collectors.
